In 2004 a start was made with the first efforts to develop a wind park at Vader Piet. More efficiency and less fuel is the result of this project to construct a park of 10 wind turbines each with a capacity of 3 megawatt for a total of 30 megawatt. Considering variables like wind intensity and continuous speed, it is calculated that the park will generate an average of 18 megawatt a day. This is 18% of our daily use of 100 megawatt. A project that puts Aruba at the top of countries that generate electricity that use the wind as the source for energy.

A joint venture of European companies founded Wind park Vader Piet N.V. that sells the electricity generated exclusively to the W.E.B. Aruba N.V. This format made the construction of the wind park possible and economically viabel. W.E.B. Aruba N.V. invested in laying a cable from Vader Piet to the Sub-station in San Nicolas.
Also W.E.B. Aruba N.V. had a MER study of the impact on the environment done prior to the start of the development of the project. The construction of the wind park was finalized at ghe end of 2009. A clean energy project (green energy) ta has helped reduce the dependency on fuel oil. A project that fits in the thinking of W.E.B. Aruba N.V. to supply reliable, sufficient and continuous power to N.V. ELMAR at an optimal; service and tariff.
