Since 1958, W.E.B. Aruba N.V. has an integrated system where Boilers produce vapor at high temperature & pressure to drive Turbine Generators and generate power. Steam is also used in the seawater desalination process. The rising price of fuel oil, drove W.E.B. Aruba N.V. to study alternative proven and new technologies, to produce potable water and generate electricity, at a much more higher efficiency and to lessen our dependence on fuel oil. On this basis e strategic long term study was launched “Energia Aruba 2025” which serves as a road map for the future development of W.E.B. Aruba N.V. In 2006 the first three “Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines”, the so called RECIP’s came into service. This has risenthe reliability of W.E.B. Aruba N.V. in power generation with a new and independent powerhouse with 24 Megawattcapacity. RECIP’s are big engines ta use the same fuel oil – the fuel W.E.B. Aruba N.V. has always used – but now with the RECIP’s we are 30% more efficient than with the former system of & Turbine Generator to generate electricity.

Now after more than 50 years of power generation using steam, we change to new technology, more efficient and innovative RECIP Engines. In 2008 we expanded the power generation with a additional new 24 megawatt powerhouse.
W.E.B. Aruba N.V. is on its way to achieve in 2025 an optimal situation for production & distribution of water and power. Introducing new technology to guide the W.E.B. Aruba N.V. gradually in eliminating old units. The main thinking is: “more energy, less fuel”.
